The West Yorkshire Learning Consortium (WYLC) is a voluntary sector infrastructure organisation. We exist to provide support to other VCS organisations, helping them to develop their capacity to deliver learning programmes.

The West Yorkshire Learning Consortium is interested in all aspects of learning and skills. We have particular interest in:

    • Workforce Development and the learning and skills needs of both paid and unpaid staff.
    • Supporting front-line organisations as they provide services to their respective client groups.
    • Building the capacity of VCS organisations through partnerships, collaborations and action to support consortia.
    • Taking initiatives with other organisations that will result in improved support to VCS organisations.

The West Yorkshire Learning Consortium supports the VCS in a number of ways:

    • We work closely with other infrastructure organisations in West Yorkshire, in particular with the West Yorkshire Local Development Agencies (WYLDA) group.
    • We represent the sector with key learning and skills partners in West Yorkshire, such as the Learning and Skills Council (LSC).
    • We work directly with individual VCS organisations on particular issues and specific areas of VCS development, assisting organisations to deal with key learning and skills issues.
    • We work with other infrastructure organisations across the region through the Regional VCS Learning and Skills Group.
    • We work with other colleagues in similar organisations across England through a group coordinated by NIACE – Consortia+.
